Actually, you are fooling yourself if you think the
MOMA isn't making a ton of money, but you're correct
in one aspect, it isn't SPECIFICALLY from this show or
on the backs of any artists. Admission (when there is
any) and sales of artworks wouldn't even pay the
administrative staff to keep the MOMA running.
MOMA, and places like it, make there money from
million dollar corporate and personal donors.
Unfortunately, in a day and age when there is
non-existent public funding for art, money like that
is the only thing that can allow places like the MOMA,
Yerba Buena, the Asian Art Museum can put on the size
and amount of programs it does. Without money, the
illegal art show would not have happened.
