Steev Hise was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa in the late sixties. He went outside sometimes but mostly read science fiction and played Dungeons & Dragons for most of his childhood. He reluctantly got a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan while also discovering that there were a lot more interesting things out there, like avant garde art, experimental music, William Burroughs books and true love. He has been composing and performing experimental art & music since 1990 and became Director of Viral Communications in January of 1993.
He has been paid to make hamburgers, design web pages, prepare electron microscope samples, write perl scripts, shuck oysters, program image-processing code on UNIX machines, rewrite tech manuals, deliver pizzas, write scores for dance and films, sell books, give plasma, sell bad art to tourists, retouch photos, teach children about nature, adminster unix servers, do live sound for rock bands, design newspapers, manage a local area network, and detassle corn, not neccesarily in that order.
Steev is a former member of The Digital Music Ensemble, and was once a DJ and production director at WCBN-FM Ann Arbor, the greatest radio station in the world.
