Special net experiments, interactive collaborations, endangered installations. This is where you'll find packets being churned about and remolded, electrons jumbling about to assault your senses and make you think. An onging playground of digital cultural work. Come back often, we'll be putting up more.
Distorted Barbie Mirror Site
An artist named Mark Napier created the original Distorted Barbie site (now altered to appease the bad guys). Mattel lawyers approached him with claims of trademark infringement. Now people are putting up mirrors of the original site in an attempt to get the word out about this incredible blatant censorship, and the attempt to supress cultural commentary and artistic appropriation. To join in this effort, Detritus is offering its own mirror. The Daily Barbie has the latest news. If you'd like to set up your own mirror site, download a tarfile of the whole thing here (1.1Mb - hey, it could fit on a floppy disk!!). Help to spread the distorted barbie meme!!
Anti-Ad Server
Tired of stupid banner ads everywhere? Detritus.net now provides a free service that allows you to place random banner ad parodies and subvertisements on your web pages. Read our mission statement and instructions.
Coming Soon- Streaming audio projects:
Detritus Radio - a constant rotation of audio art by Detrivores and other sonic appropriators. A test stream is operating already, but we're working the kinks out and collecting more material.
The Detritus Sound Concensus Bakery - A new Net Art project by Steev Hise, commissioned by New Langton Arts in San Francisco. The Bakery will cook up semi-random, semi-democratic sound collages in response to user preferences. The first version of this piece was launched July 12, and is still being developed and improved upon.

For links to other artists doing similar work elsewhere on the Web, be sure to see Rhizome.
