the slight problem with this analogy with photography is that
photography threatened an artistic "establishment", as "sample art" is doing now, but sample art is also threatening an economic status quo.
This has and will prove to be more of a problem. photography upset some
painters. sampling is upsetting large multinational media corporations,
with a lot more power. i mention this only because this economic obstacle
affects what artists can do or choose to do in a way that early
photographers did not experience.

but i agree about digital art. it doesnt really threaten anything.
