Hi,
This thursday, November 16, at 8pm, I'll be performing at
the Luggage Store in San Francisco. As with most of my work,
The set will consist of sample-based improvisations and
compositions - and YOU have a chance to contribute samples
that I will use as source material!
That's right, just upload some audio files to my server by
noon Thursday (PST) and I will work them into one or more of
the pieces I do that night.
All you have to do is point your browser to this URL and
follow the directions:
http://soundbakery.detritus.net/cgi-bin/uploader
The sounds can be any sort of material you choose - when you
upload a file you'll be asked to fill out a short form to
describe and categorize it. The sound will then be added to
a database (part of the Detritus Sound Consensus Bakery)
that can be accessed by my live software instrument, the
Syntagm Engine.
That's that - I hope to see you, online and/or at the
show...
best wishes,
Steev Hise, Nervert

"The movie and record industry have a history of claiming that new technologies will bankrupt them. When video recorders were first introduced, they swore that they would go bankrupt if people could record movies. Now they make a lot of money selling video tapes. Now they swear that they will go bankrupt if we do not restrict the freedom of speech and the public's fair use rights. Why should we believe them this time around?" - Niels Ferguson, 'Censorship in Action'
