The sensation of having a sound whose spacial reference "reads" as inside
your own head was distinctive and I would say categorically "new".

That said, I basically agree with Don's point for all practical purpose,
especially as Maryanne's work is not transmitable via recordings (really
complex speaker stuff involved to achieve this), and our entire
understanding of music in the current realm is completely caught up in the
idea of product (see Attali).
