according to another article, in the New York Times today,
Hirst "laughed harder than anyone else."

uh, and i guess the guardian article mispelled his name too,
while the Times got it right. it's with an 'i'. strange.

Sat, 20 Oct 2001 found Vicki Bennett writing:

>When I was at art college many years ago I made an installation out
>of gutted TV sets, and it came to the same fate as the Hurst piece,
>got chucked in the skip in the college car park. And I have to say
>it looked much better there in retrospect.
>>I'm afraid I have to side with the janitors on this one. A six-figure
>>sum for *this*? Sheesh.

"We are not only taught certain styles of violence, the latest fashions,
and sex roles by TV, movies, magazines, and comic strips; we are also
taught how to suceed, how to love, how to buy, how to conquer, how to
forget the past and supress the future. We are taught, more than
anything else, how not to rebel."
