[rumori] "Conspiracy!"

Recently, ideas like "patriotism" and "conspiracies" have been transformed,
mostly due to that crazy wacky event that no one can stop talking and
thinking about: the 9/11 attacks!

The current president has said that "We must not tolerate dangerous
conspiracy theories." What he is refering to is the growing voice asserting
that there is emerging evidence that he himself and his administration may
have been complicit in the plane and anthrax attacks.

My question is: What is so "dangerous" about these theories? Are people
really not to be trusted questioning there own government? The same
government doesn't think twice about letting those same people have
unmonitored access to a liquid substance more lethale and dangerous than
dynamite (gasoline). nor do they have any qualms about letting them inject
it into a thousand pund vehicle and driving that substance around at speeds
above 50 miles per hour. Yet, when it comes to mere question, and mere
speculation, a simple connecting of dots within ones one mind, we are warned
this is untolerable.

I would like to extend the idea that a "consiracy theory" can be approached
and analyzed like any other theory. People should not be afraid of
conspiracy theories. Simply try to remain objective, and weigh the evidence
with your best judgement. Observe, formulate a hypothesis, test it, repeat.

You will come across many who would rather just silence the questioning. My
response to them and all others who feel the need to quell these questions
without even looking into the evidence is this: There is less danger to
people in the specualtion of what a
government might be up to, than in the verifiable record of what they have
actaully done.

A new effort to answer these questions is underway. Fittingly, it is known
as http://unansweredquestions.org/

Please take a moment to go there and see what you think.

Also, I myself have initiated a new movement that attempts to even further.
I started out publishing the simple yet devilish _Parallel Journal_
(http://www.zerohour.net/paralleljournal).
I have recently expanded my efforts by establishing the Billions of Minds
Project. This project will be an online resource of articles and audio and
video that will explore the realms of art, science, and history.
Furthermore, it will delve into the realm of "foresight" (see:
http://www.swin.edu.au/afi/ and http://www.stratfor.com/) and "integral
studies/memetics" (see: http://www.clarewgraves.com/ and
http://www.worldofkenwilber.com/) as well as other emerging fields, such as
the study of the cyces of media reporting, and verifiable historical
patterns. Users of the billions of minds site will be able to compare
current events to these theories and break them down in ways that transcend
the common political languages and rewritten histories that now dominate our
cultures. They will also have an area where they will be able to upload
there own contributions, be they text and graphics, audio, or video, a la
the indymedia.org site.

A preliminary "database" of information is being gathered by myself on this
site: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BillionsofMinds/ A full blown website
is also in the works, and so is a tenuously scheduled annual book as well.

If you have made it this far in reading this blatant spamming of the rumori
email discussion listserve, then my hat is off to you.

We all believe that our truth is "the one real truth." The further we delve
into our experience, the more we see that there are really 6,000,000,000 and
counting "one real truths."

"At each stage of human existence the adult man is off on his quest of his holy grail, the way of life he seeks by which to live. At his first level he is on a quest for automatic physiological satisfaction. At the second level he seeks a safe mode of living, and this is followed in turn, by a search for heroic status, for power and glory, by a search for ultimate peace; a search for material pleasure, a search for affectionate relations, a search for respect of self, and a search for peace in an incomprehensible world. And, when he finds he will not find that peace, he will be off on his ninth level quest. As he sets off on each quest, he believes he will find the answer to his existence. Yet, much to his surprise and much to his dismay, he finds at every stage that the solution to existence is not the solution he has come to find. Every stage he reaches leaves him disconcerted and perplexed. It is simply that as he solves one set of human problems he finds a new set in their place. The quest he finds is never ending."
