Eh; this is nothing new... I always like seeing old 60's ads for AC
Delco spark plugs and so on that tried to cop the 60's psychedelic feel. To
us they look a little laughable, but I can't help but wonder if they looked
more believable then. To me, the attempt to use the cultural device of the
day is always deflated once it's obvious that it's an advertisement...

They did! Uh, sort of. The Ad And The Ego; finally saw it the other
week; it's quite excellent. I highly recommend getting your hands on the
video. Nice critique of adverculture. If I recall, all the video except for
interview footage was entirely taken from TV commercials.
