>From Dirk Dreyer's first letter:

"As we don't want to be seen as guys who rip off or bootleg a well known
track, we have chosen the way of rerecording the track tone by tone. "

" In my way of 'industry thinking' it is a track worth to be available for
lot of people, much more than just people going to yinyl shops."

I found a copy of this first letter on the Submerge records website, The 'why' appears to be answered in the second quote. From
his letter it does appear that the cover was made as a request from Dirk.
I've been trying to find out who the cover band was, and couldn't find it in
the correspondence. The closest thing that I found was "we" from the first
quote. I would guess that "we" is a producer at Sony who has a techno
moniker for the compilation. I've seen that done in a couple of instances.
If you scour the net, you can probably find the tecno name.
