didn't mean to seem rude, steev, I'm not sure I intended that last post to
sound the way it did. Time to stop eating so much plastic.
peaches really does need to be messed up, I think, was my main point. I
remember hearing her in december and thinking it a nice, enjoyable,
overstated novelty. a crazy amped up sex house record for the art crowd.
now that she's blown up all huge it's a bit distressing to remember -- you
can't go wrong with this kind of 'satire' on sexuality, it appeals both to
those who enjoy multi-leveled 'critiques', as well as people who just kind
of like sex records.
Saw Spike Lee's 'Bamboozled' last night and that rammed the point home even
further. No matter how insane or blatant you think your 'satire' is,
unless you're careful with your subject matter, it can be assimilated and
enjoyed on a superficial level, indistinguishable from the 'real' thing.
Pat yourself on the back and tell yourself you're being subversive or
injecting trojan memes into mainstream media consciousness or whatever, in
reality you should probably just be shot.
'Bamboozled' very ambitious and interesting film, highly recommended.
